Is atheism synonymous with a rational, objective perception of reality?

Even though atheists are seen as a distinct group with unique characteristics, the truth is, atheists are really just as normal as a human can get. It is religious and superstitious people who deviate from the normal sapient state of perceiving reality objectively, right?
