It's not a simple answer. Are Hong Kong people superstitious, yes, most are. Just look at how much a car license plate with the deemed auspicious numbers such as 8, 88, 8888 can be auctioned for in Hong Kong, the record is US$2 million, yes HK$16.5 million, for the number 18. There are often TV shows that talk about palm and face reading and fortune telling. No couples would marry on a day that's not deemed auspicious for marriage. But most such people don't pray, people there are not that pious. Very few HK people study religious doctrine looking for spiritual guidance. Most of them would only go into a temple to ask for blessings after getting into trouble. There are some people who are truly either Christians, Buddhists, or Muslims, but they are in the minority.
