If atheists beleive atheism is correct why are so many atheists inconsistent with their atheistic view?

Atheism doesn't have any tenets, so it's not atheism or atheists that are inconsistent. Beyond not holding a belief in a God, atheists can and will differ on anything. People are largely inconsistent; everyone has to face their own cognitive dissonance. It has nothing to do with atheism.
